Thanks so much for "Windows Explorer Weirdness." I was in utter frustration with the sort order of my Open File dialog box.
It was the same exact problem you encountered. I would have never found how
to change this back to alphabetical order without your tip.

You are such an angel! I know I keep telling you this, but it's the truth.
I followed your instructions today and got rid of the modem noise (if I'm not
mistaken, that was MY letter you were quoting). Such a relief. You've got me
out of so many dilemmas: customizing task bars, emptying temp folders, etc.
Don't know what I'd do without you. Keep up the good work.

Readers have praised Susan's ability to answer questions and write articles
in plain English, not nerd-speak. Because she vividly remembers being a newbie
frustrated computer user herself, her articles are sympathetic and helpful rather
than condescending or nerdy.
That was a great article last week on "hints on using toolbar" -
when I read it I thought there would be no way I could do that. But your directions
were perfect, and I cleared a lot of things off my desktop.
