true dirt

True Dirt is the personal ramblings of Briggs Nisbet, a non-native Bay Arean who grew up along the shores of San Francisco Bay and ever since she could ride a bike has been wandering the slightly beaten paths of California’s magical wildernesses. The original inspiration for True Dirt was the creation of my first garden, on a northeast-facing hillside not far from downtown Oakland. Over the last seven years of posting to TD, through the usual tragedies and triumphs of ordinary life, my enthusiasm for writing about plants and gardens and the people who love them has at times faltered, wallowed in lethargy, ennui, depression and self-doubt, but it has never yet ceased.
