| | | Local | | Franklin Street second phase begins
Construction has begun on one of the busiest streets in the city, but all businesses on Franklin Street will remain open for the duration of the four-month project.
According to city reports, the project will consist of sidewalk work, drainage improvements, some sewer rehabilitation, as well as a full reconstruction of Franklin Street between Oak and Manzanita. Argonaut Constructors of Santa Rosa are performing the work.
Full Story Shooting suspect pleads not guilty
German Joaquin Gonzalez, 17, of Fort Bragg, appeared in court in Ukiah March 29, and plead not guilty to four counts of attempted murder.
Gonzalez was arrested following a shooting which took place Monday, Feb. 26, about 10 p.m. on the northeast corner of the Walnut Street Apartment complex. Witnesses told police that a male subject, armed with a handgun, fired numerous shots into the crowded apartment, before fleeing on foot.

| Sports | | Lady Wolves double up against Colusa
The Fort Bragg Softball Team faced its toughest challenge of the season on Wednesday, March 28 when the Lady Wolves hosted the Clear Lake Cardinals.
Fort Bragg's defensive miscues ignited Clear Lakes' offense early on and gave Cardinals' pitcher Brittany Rumfelt plenty of run support. Rumfelt was on point throughout, striking out 16 batters, while allowing just one hit and no walks.
The Wolves never recovered from the early deficit as Clear Lake cruised to a 7-0 victory.

Basketball Jones Hoops Camp
The Basketball Jones Hoops Camp has announced the start of the Fort Bragg camp on July 2-6. The camp is for boys and girls ages 7 to 15. The camp is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fort Bragg High School.

| Obituaries | | Jason Russell Coverston Jason Coverston of Santa Cruz, Calif., died Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at home after a lifetime illness of Cystic Fibrosis. Born on June 22, 1982 in Fort Bragg, to Russell Coverston and Dianna Fox, he was only 24. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 7, at Chapel by the Sea.
Jason was attending college and working full-time.
He is survived by his mother and father, a grandfather, and an uncle and aunt.
