Early Childhood Education program at Aims Community College earns national accreditationPrinter Friendly Version Submitted on: 04-06-2012Aims Community College’s Early Childhood Education program has earned accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Early Childhood Education programs that receive the NAEYC accreditation demonstrate commitment to quality in 12 areas related to professional preparation standards and positive student outcomes. The accreditation lasts for two years, during which time the college will continue to develop its annual report to the association in order to extend accreditation for an additional five years. “Quality care and education of our young children builds the foundation for their success in life. Early Childhood Education programs, because they educate the teachers and caregivers, play an important role in the lives of children, their families and the community at large,” said Professor Judy Gump, chair of the Early Childhood Education program. “Having this accreditation affirms the outstanding quality of our program here at Aims.” In its assessment of the program at Aims, the NAEYC Commission commended the college’s Early Childhood Education program for its strong community partnerships, solid transfer opportunities and dedicated faculty and staff.
