The Noise in Physical System Laboratory is glad to announce the third edition of NiPS Summer School and Workshop devoted to "Energy harvesting at micro and nanoscales". The school, supported by European Commission under the FET Proactive Coordination and Support Action ZEROPOWER (www.zero-power.eu), is open to graduate students, post-docs, young researchers, and in general to all scientists interested in the physical foundations and practical applications of energy harvesting at micro and nanoscales. As part of the school there is a workshop where the students and external participants can present the result of their research. The workshop covers a wider range of subjects under the title of “Energy harvesting: models and applications” and is open to contributions. Previous editions of NiPS Summer School have seen in two years the participation of more then 50 students and young researchers from all over the world. Costs The price of the school is 500 € (+ registration fee), that includes lodging (5 nights), meals, local transport from/to Trapani or Palermo airport, gala dinner and excursion. Students can apply for a scholarship. The allocation and amount of scholarships are at the discretion of the organizing committee. Registration fee Summer School + Workshop (23-28 July): 300 € Workshop (26-28 July): 200 € Accompanying person (23-28 July): 70 € Student registration closes on 1st June 2012.

You are invited to present a talk at the workshop, please insert your abstract in the registration form. Registration FORM Please notice that school attendance is limited to 70 students and the participation will be assessed on a first-come/first-serve basis, subjected to acceptance from the Organizing Commettee.
Venue Ettore Majorana Center Via Guarnotta, 26 How to reach By Air: There are many flights from Rome to Palermo and a few from Milan which guarantee convenient international connections. We provide ground transportation from/to Palermo airport at any time (24/7) also in the case of late arrivals or early departures. Luggage handling in Rome is notoriously slow; we suggest that you travel with carry-on luggage only. By Train: Via Milan-Rome, you can reach Trapani directly. From Trapani, to reach Erice comfortably, a taxi is suggested. Confirm the price before taking the taxi. By Car: There are two possibilities: Drive along the Autostrada del Sole via Milan-Bologna-Florence-Rome-Naples-Villa San Giovanni (Reggio Calabria); then take a ferry-boat from Villa San Giovanni to Messina and drive to Erice (350 km from Messina). Take the ferry-boat either from Genoa or Naples to Palermo, and then drive on to Erice (100 km from Palermo). The places on the ferry-boat must be booked in advance.
