About

I graduated from AnimationMentor in January 2010!

Currently I am a Character TD and Character Finaling Lead at ImageMovers Digital working on Mars Needs Moms and also on A Christmas Carol.
Basically, lots and lots of python, rigging, technical animation, and geometry fixing.

But previously…

I was in the Navy as a Nuclear Reactor Operator. I got out and went to University of New Mexico where I got to animate in Wavefront’s first version of Maya; UNM had licenses on loan from Sandia Labs.

I transferred to San Francisco State and graduated in 2000 with a B.A. in Film. I worked in the industry as a Flash animator for a while.

In 2003 I went to Gnomon School of Visual Effects to update my 3D skills. After Gnomon, I worked at Stylus Visuals as a Maya Generalist. I did a lot of Animating, MEL scripting, Python, rendering and compositing.

Eventually, I became the “Science Animation Supervisor” (different than Feature Animation Sup) and managed 3-4 animators. It was always a technical and artistic challenge to animate the latest research and discoveries. As a result I wrote a lot of python and MEL to make these projects happen.

After Stylus, I worked briefly at PalmaVFX, then as a Character TD at Giant Killer Robots on the Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Now I’m at ImageMovers Digital
