Oak skirting boards are a more premium look and finish. There really isn’t any point buying a premium wood skirting like oak if you are going to paint it, but if you tint and lacquer your oak skirting boards you will have real quality moldings on your walls. For a cheaper wood effect you can look at pine skirting boards, or if you aren’t looking for a wood effect, we recommend mdf skirting boards for their durability.

The humble oak tree takes a very long time to grow, and it’s timber is very strong. This makes oak skirting boards very hard waring, but also more expensive than cheaper woods because the trees take so long to grow.
