Catch of the Month

spacer

Each month, canine handlers, supervisors, and agencies submit a “catch,” they feel is deserving of recognition because of its exemplification of outstanding work in the field of police service dogs.

Nominations are submitted to a committee in each region, which then selects a patrol catch, for locating and taking criminals into custody, and a detector catch, for a dog that has located hidden items such as narcotics or explosives.

One submission is selected for each category, and the handler is awarded a plaque with his name and his K9 partner’s name to recognize their efforts. At the end of each, quarter one winning submission from each category is selected for the Catch of the Quarter from each region.

The Catch of the Quarter from each region is sent to the National Catch Committee for consideration for National Catch of the Quarter as well as Catch of the Year.

If you have a team that’s deserving of Region 5 recognition, send your nomination via e-mail by the 10th of each month.

Electronic submissions should be attached as an MS Word document, preferably two (2) pages or less and double-spaced. Please, no police reports or newspaper articles.
