We Believe . . .

        The Bible

The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is the record of God’s revelation of Himself to man. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth without any mixture of error for its matter. It will remain the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried. The criterion by which the Bible is to be interpreted is Jesus Christ.

Confessions are only guides to interpretation, having no authority over the conscience. Baptists are a people who profess a living faith. This faith is rooted and grounded in Jesus Christ. Therefore, the sole authority for faith and practice among Baptists is Jesus Christ whose will is revealed in the Holy Scriptures.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

                                                                                                                        2 Timothy 3:16-17

Christ is Head of the Church

Christ is the one head of the church. All authority has been committed unto Him . . .Not traditions, nor customs, nor councils, nor confessions, nor ecclesiastical formulates, however venerable and pretentious, guide Baptists, but simply and solely the will of Christ as they find it revealed in the New Testament.

“And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.”

                                                                                                                       Ephesians 1:22-23

The church is an autonomous body, operating through democratic processes under the Lordship of Christ. In such a congregation members are equally responsible.

“. . . Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord., in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.”

                                                                                                                       Ephesians 2:20-23

In the Virgin Birth of Christ

Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ, He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.

“Therefore the Lord Himself will be you a sign: Behold the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call His name Emmanuel.”                                                              Isaiah 7:14

     Jesus Died for Our Sins

In His death on the cross He made provision for the redemption of men from sin.

“And He died for all.”

                                                                                                                        2 Corinthians 5:15

     Jesus Overcame Death

"And the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the play where He was Lying."

                                                                                                                        Mark 28:5-6

"Now He said to them, 'These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled."

                                                                                                                        Luke 24:44

"and He said to them, "thus it is written that the Christ should suffer and rise again from the dead the third day; and that repentance for forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things."

                                                                                                                        Luke 24:46-48

"…that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation."

                                                                                                                        Romans 10:9-10
