How it works
There are two very simple ways to use tagalyzer.com:
- Just link to tagalyzer.com and we'll automatically provide links to related content based on a content analysis of your referring page.
You can link to the home page which will display the news tab by default, or
link to tagalyzer.com/blogs, /links, /pix, or /product to display the blogs,
bookmarks, pictures, or products tabs respectively. You can also embed
tagalyzer links in your blog template (eg. for each post), by using the
format tagalyzer.com?referer=[post_permalink]
- Alternatively save this
TagIt! bookmarklet to your
favorites to easily tagalyze any page you visit. Some browsers will actually
let you just drag that link to your browser links bar. Then you can click
this button anytime you are visiting an interesting page and tagalyzer will
go looking for related content based on a content analysis of the page you
are currently viewing.
Ok, great, so how does it actually do all this?
Tagalyzer.com uses the Yahoo! content analysis API to define the keywords (or
tags) which define the content of a referring page. It then uses the
Yahoo! News
API, the
Technorati API, The del.icio.us API,
the Flickr API, and the
SearchFeed API to search for related
news, blog posts, bookmarks, pictures, and products/services respectively.
All this is wrapped in a ajaxian UI which hopefully makes it nice to
use...although at this point I am painfully aware that the site is fugly as all
hell. Any designers want to help out? Please
