About Us

United Methodist Insight seeks to provide a broad range of information and perspectives on key issues that will affect the future of The United Methodist Church coming before the 2012 General Conference April 24-May 4, 2012 in Tampa, FL. Its primary goal is to offer factual reports and analytical perspectives on the potential impact of all proposals for the future structure and administration of the global denomination.

United Methodist Insight is an educational project for concerned United Methodists and decision-makers of the 2012 General Conference of The United Methodist Church. The project is hosted by St. Stephen United Methodist Church of Mesquite, TX, and funded by a grant from the Joe B. and Louise P. Cook Foundation of Temple, TX.

UM Insight will not advocate for any particular viewpoint or alternative among General Conference proposals. However, in a spirit of providing transparency to church governance, UM Insight will provide an open venue for all perspectives submitted for consideration. All viewpoints expressed on this website are those of the author. They do not reflect views held by members and leadership of St. Stephen United Methodist Church, the North Texas Annual Conference or the general leadership of The United Methodist Church. Neither St. Stephen UMC or the Cook Foundation have any financial interest or editorial control over the content presented herein.
