Great OpenID Tutorial
So it wasn’t created to be an OpenID tutorial but Rauol from over at Zooomr has created a great video to explain the OpenID login process, why its a URL as well as how it works with Zooomr. Very cool stuff.
Thanks for doing that Rauol!!

“And I’m in. It was that simple.”
You’ve got to be kidding me. You seriously call that simple? “Out of touch with normal people” would be a gross understatement.
Let’s see:
* It’s a username, but you’re going to call it a URL (or is it the other way around?).
* The username is over 30 characters long. You really expect people to remember and type that?
* You’re going to parade a technical term (acronym no less!) like URL in front of non-geeks?
* A nine character password of (presumably) letters, numbers, and/or symbols is “weak”.All I can say is wow. My parents eyes would glaze over at step one–my grandmother’s head would just explode.
If that’s what OpenID has to offer, then let me be the first to predict a stillborn delivery.

I agree its definitely not as simple as it could be. We actually had a good chat with the Zooomr folks yesterday and today and are working on solving a lot of the things that you mentioned.
The URL is a big one … that should be ‘username’ …. users know that could be anything but they get that it is in the most general form an identifier.
I feel your pain John and let me be the first to say that there are a lot of folks working to try and make this as easy as possible. I’d love to hear your thoughts on how to make this easier or better.

Why does it ask for information that it requested on the OpenID page as well? Thatโs just entering information twice…

I don’t really like typing in a URL…i-names seem a bit better to me.
