Rocket Hangar is a small company. Lots of people try to make their company seem larger than it is because there is some perceived value in being big. We think the opposite. We like small, we like nimble. I started Rocket Hangar because I see huge opportunities emerging in the technology around location. I also think we can get there with the team I have built around me.
Rocket Hangar is led by me, Scott Barstow. I have spent the last 15 years or so doing different things with some really great companies. I was a lead technologist at Bandwidth.com for a couple of years, then left for about six months to work on something that didn’t pan out. I returned to Bandwidth.com as the CTO and was there as we transitioned the company from a data services company to a voice services company. It was a wild ride. We grew at a meteoric pace and were in the Inc. 500 Fastest Growing Private Companies each of the three years I was there.
After leaving Bandwidth.com, I worked at Symantec Corporation for a couple of years, leading the development team for Symantec Workflow Solution. I learned a lot at Symantec. Symantec has great customers and a lot of really great people. My takeaway from Symantec is that I am, and probably always will be, a person that works better in smaller organizations.
The Rocket Hangar team is made up of people we know from all around the world. We spend a lot of time finding the best people, and we don’t care where they live. We do this for two reasons: (1) Sometimes the most appropriate talent is not local to us, and we want to work with the best people and ( 2 ) We firmly believe that a rising tide floats all boats. We like the idea of enriching lives where there is less opportunity.
