Gun-Dealing CB12 Chair Abused Power With 2nd Amendment Forum, Critics Say – DNAinfo.com New York

Reynolds, who is the President of Cavalier Knight, a Washington Heights-based security firm that sells guns and offers education on safety measures, defended his position on Wednesday, saying “everyone should have the right to keep and bear arms for recreation, target shooting, and lawful hunting.”

That’s about as warped a view of the rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment as I have ever heard issuing from the mouth of a “gun rights supporter.”

The joys of progression.

An interesting site, by a fellow who seems to be ‘going Galt’ but I’m not sure that he is ready to formalize it.

The Direction of Progression (with multiple digression).

This was becoming clear in science in the late seventies/early eighties when I was an undergraduate. By the time I reached PhD level, a professor had taken the head of department job even though he really didn’t want it. Doesn’t make sense, does it? It does when you consider that a real scientist doesn’t want promotion. A real scientist wants to stay in the lab and do some science. Money and prestige are not motivations for real scientists. The only motivations are ‘Ooo, look at that’ and ‘I wonder how that works?’ There are a few left but their numbers are declining due to ‘progress’.

For years, the scientists had booted the useless and the politically motivated out of the labs and into management roles. They reasoned, as scientists are wont to do, it being their job and all, that these bloody wasters would do less harm shuffling paper than messing with dangerous things. They were wrong, and that professor saw it. Sure, the scientists in the lab were intelligent and dedicated but those in charge were politically motivated morons. They soon started to make decisions on who should be employed in the lab, and what projects should run. That professor retired years ago and he was a mental wreck by the time they’d finished with him.

Applies to other than science, too.

GBR VII: Day 2, Part 2 at Traction Control

On a more positive note:

I may have actually provided a helpful pointer to fellow shooter Bill (or it may have been just a lucky coincidence):

After several failure-to-fire events, Bill’s rifle seemed to be having a malfunction.  My advice was to pull the bolt all the way to the back and let the spring ‘slap it’ closed.  It seemed to work. Yea!

That “Bill” would have been me, yeah.

San Francisco makes it so expensive and difficult to practice with rifles that I don’t get nearly as much of it as I either need or would like. That’s why I’m enjoying using this very nice range here in the Nevada Free State. The rifle in question was my KelTek SU16, an ugly black plastic gun that hasn’t (yet) been banned in California. Once I got it running, it fired very well.

This morning I’m going to stop by Cabelas’ and pick up a rifle stand and a universal boresighter and see if I can’t get both rifles dialed in before I head for home. And thanks to Armed Citizen for the pointer!

Rent, Buy, Sell Textbooks at Amazonspacer

Yes, it’s Back to School time – and textbooks cost a ton these days (yeah, I know you know that). This could save you quite a bit of money, though, one way or another. The rental option is especially intriguing. I mean, you only need them for one class, right?

Remember – anything you buy from Amazon through any link on this site puts a commission in my pocket, at no cost to yourself, so thank you very much! Also, arf! from the Presidential Pomeranian.

This is the result of poor to non existent training and weapons discipline.

Just After Closing Time, a Fatal Split Second

But don’t expect anyone to be fired or disciplined for it.

He said Mr. Cuevas “ran full speed into the officer; the two became entangled, at which point we believe the officer accidentally discharged his weapon.

So much for our “highly trained” police forces.

Update sorry Bill I didn’t see you coming

NYPD ND Kills Clerk Fleeing Felony | The Truth About Guns

According to nydailynews.com, “An unarmed Bronx bodega worker fleeing a botched armed robbery at his uncle’s store was accidentally shot dead by a police officer early Friday, cops said. While witnesses said Reynaldo Cuevas was killed in a lethal case of mistaken identity, police said his death came after the officer’s gun went off as the two collided outside the store . . . Cuevas was sprinting with his head down when he slammed into the officer, who was standing with his gun drawn, according to [NYPD Deputy Commissioner Paul] Browne. As the two tumbled to the ground, the cop ‘accidentally discharged his firearm’ — inflicting the mortal wound, Browne said.”

If a CCW holder did this, those same cops would toss him in jail for recklessly endangering public safety – and some level of manslaughter, as well.
