A new holistic approach to energy-efficient and sustainable networking

Home

This research project is dedicated to the memory of Prof. Fabio Neri, unexpectedly and too early passed away on April 16, 2011. Fabio was the founder of the TREND project, he assembled the partners, led the writing of the proposal, was the chief project defender with the EU officers, and was the leader and the core of the TREND project until his passing.
All the results and achievements of this project are in the name and in the memory of Fabio.

A new dark graphical template is configured as optional. It is provided for partners to measure if this allows saving on display power use. It is possible to switch to the dark graphical template by selecting it at the bottom of the left column.

TREND is a Network of Excellence on energy-efficient networking, coordinated by Politecnico di Torino, funded by the European Commission within the Seventh Framework Programme.

TREND addresses and looks for answers to important questions, such as:

Is the current growth of telecom infrastructures sustainable?
Is high bandwidth access to all in metropolitan areas sustainable?
Which technologies are more energy-friendly?
Is the Internet protocol suite wasting energy?
How to incentivate new energy-aware attitudes?
