The Sidney Hillman Foundation announced today that Erich Schwartzel and Julia Rendleman of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette have won the September Sidney Award for “Fouled Waters,” a 3-month investigation into a mysterious blight on the water supply of a small Pennsylvania town surrounded by natural gas wells.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's the fifth estate wins the 2012 Canadian Hillman Prize in Journalism. "Scout's Honour" uncovered the sexual abuse of over 300 children by Scouts Canada leaders, led to a public apology, a sweeping review of policies, and criminal charges.
