Jobs Report: Teenagers Led Labor-Force Dropouts

But among people of prime working age — which the Labor Department defines as those between 25 and 54 years old — the labor force declined by a more modest 66,000. The biggest workforce drops were among teenagers 16-19 years old (down 209,000) and 20-24 year-olds (down 218,000). The older workforce, those over 55, grew by 274,000, continuing a long-running trend.

Part of the problem is, so many 24 year olds can’t do anything and resent being asked to work at the office since it takes time away from Facebook and Farmville.

I don’t know who is going to run the country in 15 or 20 years but it isn’t going to be them because they won’t be able to work the coffee machine at the office, much less anything else…
