IN SOFTWARE ECT WHILE I WAS CHECKING OUT THE NEW "STUFF" I SAW A POSTER ABOUT XBOX. I ASKED THE CASHIER ABOUT IT AND HE SAID THAT EVERYBODY IS RESERVING IT. I HAD SOME EXTRA BIRTHDAY MONEY IN MY POCKET SO I DECIDED TO RESERVE IT. 2 MONTHS LATER I WAS PLAYING THE COOLEST GAME SYSTEM ON EARTH. I PRACTICALLY HAVE ALL THE GAMES. I CANT WAIT TILL I CAN PLAY ONLINE

Correction...
That stor is Software Etc. on 43rd and 6th, I was in it today... :)
The XBox video trailer had a crowd of people around it. While the framerate on some of the games was so-so, I'm sure this was the E3 footage that garnered the negativity. I'm gonna boycot this damn thing if they don't manage 60fps... on all these games... even the DC can do that.

I was in my local EB in Indianapolis, and I was talking to the cashier about the Sept. 1 preorder date. We were talking for like 2 minutes, and while we were standing there, two different guys walked in and asked if they could pre-order the xbox. The cashier said that everybody who has been coming in keeps asking about the xbox, and no one has said anything about the gamecube. Just a little proof of the xbox love out there.

The ad blitz is beginning. Last week at the mall where I live, I noticed the Xbox display in Software Etc. and it looked great. Ppl were coming in and milling around the display and discussing Xbox and there was a HUGE line waiting to sign up on the Xbox call list.

We also have the boxes of all boxes over at our EB. Six of em. I give em a kiss every day. We also have a cool Xbox sign, but thats all.

i think that is the store, and yea, it was the same store with the display inside too. i was there last week so that is what they had. it was in the back of the store on the right side.

To Shockwave, Halo, and others interested, I live in NYC, and I think that store is Software Etc., on 34th & Broadway. I was just there recently, and saw the window display, but the inside stuff cannot be the same store, because their display inside is much smaller. Though it is possible that it has changed, but I still think that the shelf-shots are a different store.

Thanks, those are great shots. As you can see Xbox is taking center stage with the Xbox. The PS2 and DC are on the sides and Mario is behind the Xbox display. lol. That is the biggest displaay of video games I have ever seen displayed for any systems launch.

I think funcoland ought to be good, too. NB: they're affiliated with babbages and gamestop.com. Yeeesh! Their cheapest preorder bundle costs $600 upfront! Good for some but I can't afford that. Still, if you are looking for the display I, for one, think they're good for it. Let us know.

That's awesome! I've had some sightings in my area too!

There's an awesome promo video at toys r us-shows off the "matrix" style visuals after you select something on the dashboard, then goes on to in-game footage, with punk music in the background. Most of the popular games are shown....halo, doa3, gotham racing, amped, tony hawk 2, blood wake (the water, whoa!), abe's odysee, nfl fever, etc. It is a sight to see, after only seeing the graphics on crummy movies on the internet. Go check it out....the toys r us in fort wayne had it...too bad it's on a small tv....

MaxgamerX,
Was there anything like the display in this article, you mean? No. I didn't get very far, though. And I didn't really look. All Kbtoys had was the box that the xbox would be packaged in, in the wimdow. My best bet, if you are in the area, is to try Columbia Mall, exit 41 on 95 as you probably know. Don't they have a babbages and an EB? EB say they won't be doing anything until September regarding preorders, but they are a better bet for the display and what not, as Shockwave said.

When did you go to Arundel Mills? I went like 2 weeks ago and saw nothing like that.
Did any other of the other game stores have that.

I'm in MD and I saw an XBOX box in the window at . . .dag, I forget!!! Some toy-store in Arundel Mills Mall, KBTOYS that's what it was. I read everything on that box and checked to see if they were taking preorders. They aren't yet. But the display wasn't as nice as this one in NY. Then again, this was 4 days ago.

Nice move on Microsofts part. Just think, any potential PS2 buyer will see that just 3 months away will be a better system comming. Any male 18 or over that gets excited over seeing that Mario in that window has got to be F@cking fruit cake. I can see one now standing in front of the store singing: "How much is that Mario in the window".

Yeah I agree. At ign The Halo sign on the box was towards the bottom of the box. But here in the picture is on the top.

No I don't think they are the same boxes. The one for halo has a different guy.(one with a face shield one without) And they don't say anything about game play, no writing. Surely they'll have some game play info written on the official boxes.
Aug. 15th, 2001 7:09 am
Shockwave
I think IGN showed the other side of the box though.
Aug. 15th, 2001 7:06 am
Shockwave
they are the same ones IGN had, the photo here shows 2 boxes on the left and 3 Xbox mini posters on the right side. The boxes right now say 'display only' and they are the only ones available at this time.
Aug. 15th, 2001 7:04 am

No, I think the boxes at IGN are real. Its the ones in stores that are not final. Good thing too, because they look crappy.
Aug. 15th, 2001 7:01 am
neodragon
Those boxes look different then what IGN has. I think IGN's boxes are just what someone made and sent in. Any one know for sure?

its awesome that they're putting all this stuff on display so early. whenever i walk into babbages, toysrus, whatever, more and more each time there's a growing amount of stuff, and i haven't even seen one thing for the gamecube.
