TweetCrytek attending the Durango developers summit in London
Sean Tracy, a technical designer for Crytek, tweeted the news that he’s attending the Durango summit in London. Sadly, the tweet has since been removed.
Supposedly, Durango is the codename for Microsoft’s next Xbox.
No word on whether this is actually a summit for the new Xbox, or if the codename refers to the city of Durango, Colorado, one of Mexico’s 31 states, or even the SUV from Dodge.
Project Natal, which was named after the Brazillian city, ended up being Kinect.
Durango was rumored to be the next Xbox console’s codename by Kotaku earlier in the month, with various sources also hosting the news.
However, Microsoft is not expected to announce anything pertaining to its next console until at least 2013.
We’ll keep an eye on things for you, but it’s sounding more likely as many developers have been posting job openings for “next-gen” and “future-gen” systems for months on end.
Lionhead and Bethesda are just two of the latest.

“Thank you all for coming, I would like to introduce you to our NEXT GEN system, the system that you will be developing on for years to come. It has 2GB (audience groans), an ATI 6670 GPU (audience groans louder), the controller has a tablet screen (Audience moans in despair), and lastly it has Kinect 2 to be used with tablet controller (Audience sighs and hopes Sony does better)oh and its a whopping 6 times better than the 360 which means it cant run the Epic Samaritan demo (Audience looks at clock waiting to get out)”
Hopefully the above isn’t true

I really reaaaaally hope this is about the new Xbox console. The report from earlier today that Durango could be the new Xbox is definitely interesting and all these reports from Bethesda and Lionhead are very interesting too and those ain’t rumours.

That is rather curious, surely that has to mean something? If it was just about a city or car, they wouldn’t do that i assume.

Yeah all the skeptics need to relax…its still 2 yrs out so it should have plenty of power not to mention the original x box to 360 was a pretty big tech leap not to mention MS isn’t Nintendo so they actually belong in the console business and don’t waste time making under-powered systems 6-7 yrs into the console gen…
