spacer Red Hat (NYSE: RHT) has acquired FuseSource, an application integration product, as a complement to its JBoss open source middleware offerings. JBoss is one of Red Hat’s most lucrative channel partner offerings, so FueSource could be of great interest to Red Hat’s network of VARs and technology consultants.

For each dollar of JBoss revenue that flows to Red Hat, consultants typically earn about $10 to $12 on related JBoss integration services, the company has previously stated. Now those partners will have FuseSource in their toolkits.

Red Hat purchased FuseSource from Progress Software Corp., and sees the newly owned software as a key tool for cloud integration projects. FuseSource customers include CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear Research), Sabre Holdings (the travel IT solutions provider), and VodaPhone.

Red Hat expects to commercial FuseSource’s offerings sometime in mid-2012, though the acquisition remains subject to regulatory approval.

Elsewhere, Red Hat upgraded its open source storage software and announced four hybrid cloud solutions. Those offerings attempt to counter major providers of IaaS and PaaS platforms.
