Government Relations

The Office of Government Relations is chief liaison between the University and federal, state and local government offices and legislative bodies. The University also provides service and support to policymakers by engaging its numerous experts, capabilities and resources. The University's government relations office serves the interests of the University's 44,000 students statewide, 14,000 faculty and staff members, and 300,000 alumni in the U.S. and around the world by working closely with faculty, University leaders and the Student Government Association to improve understanding and support for the University's academic, research, and outreach goals.

State Relations

The Office of State Relations is located just one block away from the state capitol in Nashville. The staff serves as the primary liaison with the Tennessee General Assembly, the Office of the Governor and state executive agencies. The staff provides immediate support to the President and his staff in legislative, public policy and political analysis, as well as helping identify new opportunities for partnering with state government.
