Several WP Plugins Enabled

I've enabled (or am in the process of enabling) a bunch of WordPress plugins1, as suggested by the many kind folks in the comments to my query entry. I will be using this entry (and the comments section) to try a few out, so if things are wonky for a few hours, please let it slide. 
And with this comment I'm testing putting a footnote after the breaker.2

Posted 28 Oct 2006 at 5:16pm #Whenever I attempt to use the footnotes plugin on my About Me page, it craps out:
Safari can't open the page “nslog.com/2003/02/27/about_me/â€Â. The error was: “lost network connection†(NSURLErrorDomain:-1005) Please choose Report Bug to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message.
The same thing happens in Firefox as well. I'm not sure if it's colliding with another plugin or what.

I figured out what the problem was. Earlier in the post I had a parenthetical comment that ended with the smiley ";-)" That put two "))" next to each other, causing the plugin to barf on itself, resulting in no content being sent back to the browser.
The fact that I put )) in this content demonstrates that comments and TrackBacks are unaffected by this problem.

The presence of "))" alone didn't seem to cause the barfing, but when the post also contained " ((" somewhere, the plugin had major problems.
Regardless, I've now changed it in the plugin itself to work with " <|" and "|>" so as to avoid future (unintended) problems. I don't see myself using that markup any time soon.

Posted 29 Oct 2006 at 2:21am #Have you figured out how to change the 'Continue Reading' link to be like it was before? After I finally figured out that it wasn't a bug in the software outputting the links, I thought it was very clever. Of course, it took several months to figure it out...
