27th MLK Symposium honors ‘I Have a Dream’ speech

U-M’s 27th annual MLK Symposium, one of the top national observances of the life of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., will include Southern Poverty Law Center co-founder and chief trial counsel Morris Dees, King speechwriter Clarence B. Jones, and activist Angela Davis, known internationally for her work to combat oppression.

Researchers at the School of Natural Resources and Environment are leading a five-year, $4 million study of disparities in access to healthy food across the state.

Bernstein, Diggs elected to Board of Regents; McCormack wins high court spot

Democrats Mark Bernstein and Shauna Ryder Diggs have been elected to fill two eight-year terms on the Board of Regents.

U-M ranked No. 8 in size of international student body

The university was ranked No. 8 nationally for the size of its international student body in 2011-12, according to a study showing foreign enrollments grew 5.7 percent nationwide to a record 764,495.

Crisler Center to host 
3rd-annual Army-Navy Wheelchair Basketball game

Typical cheers of “Go Blue!” in the Crisler Center will be replaced with chants of “Go Army!” and “Go Navy!” on Nov. 20, as two wheelchair basketball teams representing military veterans take to the court to raise awareness for those with disabilities and to celebrate veterans in the community.

Switch to township water will benefit Matthaei Botanical Gardens
