spacer Targeted Victory, an internet consulting firm working with Marco Rubio’s campaign, released a recent report that measures head-to-head match ups of YouTube views for races around the country, including the Florida gubernatorial campaign. They claim that in the past month, Rick Scott had 104,265 YouTube views, and Alex Sink only had 22,598.

The problem is Alex Sink’s YouTube views have consistently been higher than Rick Scott. Based on videos uploaded in the last month, according to YouTube, here are the view totals:

Alex Sink – 79,492
Rick Scott – 62,287

The above numbers include present day views going back about six weeks, but Alex Sink is still leading even if you break it down to the month prior to the release of their report on September 27. Since the report counts two snapshots “over the past four weeks”, the following totals are from September 27 back to the Primary Election:

Alex Sink – 35,979
Rick Scott – 23,495

I would also add that if you look at total YouTube views over time, Alex is also leading that measure:

Alex Sink – 117,255
Rick Scott – 115,949

Their report doesn’t go into detail on how they’re counting views or what exact dates they are using. Without further explanation, their numbers can only be considered wildly inaccurate, or worse, conveniently massaged to help specific GOP candidates.

Full Disclosure: I’m working with the Alex Sink campaign.
