Wave Farm Residencies: June-October 2013

The Wave Farm Residency program provides artists with valuable assistance with which to concentrate on new transmission works and conduct research about the genre using free103point9's resource library. Resident artists perform, are interviewed, and create playlists for a Saturday broadcast on WGXC 90.7-FM, a FM radio station and media project in Greene and Columbia counties, upstate New York.

Tune in to WGXC 90.7-FM, wgxc.org, or free103point9.org, Saturday night for free jazz, avant-garde jazz, creative improvised music, poetry and spoken word. Taran's Free Jazz Hour was started in 2003 and is currently broadcast on eight radio stations in Europe and free103point9's WGXC 90.7-FM in the United States. This edition features the Ratchet Orchestra, Peggy Lee Band, Mark Alban Lotz,Meinrad Kneer, Roland Dahinden, Hildegard Kleeb, Ivo Perelman, Mike Bisio, Matthew Shipp, Florian Bergmann, Rank Gratkowski, Benjamin Weidekamp, Christian Weidner, Frak Gratkowsky Quartet, Natsuki Tamura, Satoko Fujii, Mike Goyvaerts, Jeffrey Morgan, Willy Van Buggenhout, and others.

WGXC rebroadcasts the FCC Open Meeting from 10:30 a.m., Fri., Nov. 30. The agenda for the meeting includes: Expanding Nationwide Low Power Radio Opportunities Fifth Order on Reconsideration and Sixth Report and Order. "The Commission will consider a Fifth Order on Reconsideration and Sixth Report and Order, which address the final procedures to approve more than 6,000 pending FM translator radio applications and implementation of the Local Community Radio Act. The consideration of these items will represent the final steps toward enabling non-profit groups nationwide to apply for low-power radio licenses to further expand the diversity of local voices in the media landscape." The Open Meeting is scheduled to commence at 10:30 a.m., Fri., Nov. 30 in Room TW-C305, at 445 12th Street, S.W., Washington, D.C. The event will be shown live at FCC.gov/live, and rebroadcast the next day on free103point9 Online Radio and WGXC.
