Slope Style: 3 Chic Ski Ensembles
by amanda weiner
Dressing for winter sports is all about personal style: what moves you and what you can move in. Sleek designs are timeless, and with innovative activewear and a winter wardrobe built on the classics, fashion and function meld seamlessly. For these three lovely athletes from Aspen, turning heads at the gondola plaza on an Ajax powder day is as effortless as a knee-deep Zaug’s run. Cropped puffer coats, roomy ski pants, and cute pom-pom hats are standout pieces that Aspen’s pro and local skiers commonly covet. And when it comes to hats, these ladies wear many: They moonlight as environmental advocates, restaurateurs, and architects when they’re not shredding the slopes. Valerie Alexander Yaw, Darcy Conover, and Katrina DeVore—our notable local skiers—combine rich neutrals such as camel, cream, and tan with classic black and white for a look that fits their ski styles and lifestyles.
