BALTICON 46, the Maryland Regional Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention, is scheduled for Memorial Day weekend, May  25-28, 2012 at Marriott's Hunt Valley Inn in Baltimore, MD. ADVERTISING IN BSFAN:

The BSFAN is an award-winning annual publication of the Baltimore Science Fiction Society, Inc., and it features original art, original science fiction and fantasy writing, and highlights the accomplishments of program participants at the annual science fiction convention known as Balticon. Space is available for purchasing or trading an ad in next year’s BSFAN, the Balticon convention souvenir book. Deadline for receipt of copy is March 31, 2012. Fan organizations may purchase ads at a 50% discount, or may trade ad space. We can accept electronic files or camera-ready hard copy for scanning.

Circulation: Estimated readership/distribution is 1800-2000, based on previous conventions.

Advertising Rates (B&W):**  

Bona-fide non-profit fan organizations are subject to a 50% discount off these rates. Fan publications wishing to trade ads must request to do so in writing by March 15, 2012. Please email your reservation request along with your advertising deadlines and specifications to: publicity@balticon.org or bsfan@bsfs.org.

**COLOR ADS: A limited number of interior color pages are available; sorry, no covers. A full color page (full bleed to edge if desired) is $300. Please make sure electronic files for color printing are saved using the CMYK (not RGB) colorspace.  

 Publication Format for Ads: Two column format, 8.5” x 11”. Ads may run either vertically or horizontally. Please allow 1/2” border on all sides. Bleed to edge may be charged extra.

Acceptable Printing Materials: Please provide camera-ready copy via one of the following methods (please include a SASE if you would like your materials returned):

  1. Email attachment to bsfan@bsfs.org or elwynsattic@gmail.com (pdf, psd, tiff, or jpeg formats preferred).
  2. CDROM mailed to the address below (readable on a Windows-based PC).  
  3. Hardcopy, camera-ready and suitable for scanning, mailed to the address below.  

Closing Date: Final camera-ready copy must be received no later than March 31, 2012. Please query concerning other arrangements.

ADVERTISING OUTSIDE BSFAN:

Freebie Table: You can send us up to 500 pieces each of posters or other promotional items to put on the freebies table. This does not constitute a sponsorship, so no charge, but no perks.

Sponsorships: We offer several options for Balticon sponsorship opportunities.

A.  At no cost to you, we would be happy to include your coupon with a value of $1.00 or greater in the Balticon members’ registration packets (1,900 piece minimum—enough for each registration packet).

B.  For 7 cents per item per packet (1,800 piece minimum—enough for each registration packet) we will include your promotional item in the Balticon members’ registration packet and place any quantity over packets stuffed on the Freebie table.

C.  For any of the following sponsorships opportunities:

  1. Provide 300 pieces of an item that we can include in the “thank you” packages we put together for volunteers, staff and program participants, or provide 300 small heavy plastic, poly or fabric tote bags to be used for our “Thank You” packages.
  2. Sponsor an event such as the Meet The Guests ($300-$500), the Volunteers Breakfast ($150-$300), KaffeeKlatsches ($150 - $300) or one or more day(s) of con suite snacks ($400 - $800) or staff/volunteer meals ($200 - $500) by providing funds or food for the event.
  3. Contribute a Prepaid Debit or Gift Card to be applied to the restaurant tab for the ConComm and Guests of Honor dinner.
  4. Sponsor (pay for) one or more room nights of our staff/volunteer lounge (the Berserker Lair), Con-Ops/Security crash space or Tech Crew crash space or one of our Guests of Honor.

We will publish either your ad or a thank you for being a Balticon sponsor in our pocket program; we can place a link to your website either on the Balticon website or on the BSFS Balticon sponsors page, where it will remain until the end of the calendar year. Please provide us with either camera-ready copy or an electronic copy of your ad or logo to be included with our thank you statement. If we receive your sponsorship funds and ad copy by April 15, 2012, we can place your quarter-page black and white ad (or color ad for sponsorships over $500) in the BSFAN (our convention souvenir book) at no additional cost to you. D. We are open to suggestions for other sponsorship ideas! (We are always open to cool ideas!)
