Location

The openSUSE Conference will be held October 20-23 in beautiful city of Prague in the Czech republic. If you require special assistance, please indicate when you register for the Conference

Our venue is the Czech Technical University in Prague.

The conference will be held at Faculty of Information Technology
of Czech Technical University in Prague (FIT ČVUT). More precisely in the new building at Thákurova 9, Prague 6 – Dejvice.


Talks are held at the ground floor in halls 105 (Linux Days) and 155 (openSUSE Conference) and at third floor in room 349 (Gentoo Conference). Workshops are held in third floor as well. Booths of open source project can be find in front of halls at the ground level.

How to get to the venue?

If you are traveling by public transport, closest stops are tram stops Lotyšská (from east, tram 8 and 2) and Thákurova (from south, tram 20 and 26). End station of underground A Dejvická is also close by (cca 600 m away). You can use web of Prague public transport services to find out how to get there.

By train

If you are coming by train to the Main station, you can either take tram number 26 and exit at tram stop Thákurova, or take underground C in direction of Háje, but exit at Muzeum station, change the lines there and use underground A to the station Dejvická. Both variants takes approximately same time.

By bus

If you are coming by bus and you are arriving at Florenc station, you can either take tram number 8 and exit at tram stop Lotyšská, or take underground C in direction of Háje, but exit at Muzeum station, change the lines there and use underground A to the station Dejvická. Both variants takes approximately same time.

By plane

Prague is served by a single international airport, the Prague Ruzyně International Airport, airport code PRG. The airport is served by many international carriers both inside and outside Europe. The Czech Republic is part of the Schengen zone, so travellers within the zone does not need immigration processing.

If you are coming by plane to the Praha-Ruzyně airport, take bus 119 and exit at station Dejvická.

Welcome party

Friday we plan a pre-conference welcome party, the party place will be Cafe Traverza, right across the street of the University where the conference will take place on Saturday, so it will also give you a nice peek at the venue. It starts at 18:00! The details of the map please see the the image below on the "Important places" section.

Lunch for the weekend

Big party

In the Saturday evening, we converge in Club Lavka, right in the city center, next to the famous Charles Bridge. This old building next to the Vltava river gives a nice view over Prague and will offer you all food and drinks. The party starts at 7pm!

Take underground from closest underground station Dejvicka and exit on the underground station Malostranska. From there you can follow this map:

Lazy tour: Instead of walking to get sightseeing tour, you can take tram 18 in direction Vozovna Pankrac and exit after 2 stops at Karlovy Lazne station and follow second map.

Monday and Tuesday

On Monday and Tuesday (October 22 and 23), the openSUSE Conference will continue in a location a few hundred meters from the university, on the premises of Masarykova student dormitory (Masarykova kolej)
