Institute for Computer Based Learning

ICBL specialises in the design, description and evaluation of computer-based resources and their use in further and higher education. Our current expertise includes resource discovery services, metadata standards for learning resources and evaluation of computer-based learning resources.

Over the years ICBL staff have been involved in a large number of JISC, SHEFC, HEFCE and EC funded projects, services and initiatives. Currently these include WattNames, JournalTOCs, OER Pilots, CETIS and the HE Academy Engineering subject centre, more details of these and most of our previous projects are available on our projects page.

ICBL is part of Computer Science in the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at Heriot-Watt University.
