Talent Spot: Stephen Kelly, chief people officer at Logica

Posted by Janine Milne in CPD on Wed, 11/07/2012 - 09:14

In the opinion of Stephen Kelly, chief people officer at Logica, HR has a huge influence on whether a business is successful or not, which makes it a great field to be involved in.

“People build brands and brands build people,” he asserts.

And Kelly has been lucky enough to put his stamp on some of the biggest British brands in the land: the BBC, BT, British Rail and now international IT and business services giant Logica, which has 44,000 employees and takes on 6,500 new recruits a year.

Hello! We may or may not have told everyone yet, but we're working towards a site redesign at the start of next year. So although it's been a busy time, it's also been an exciting one too.

In the interim though, for members of the community both old and new, I thought it might be useful to give you a quick scoot through what we currently have to offer.

While on the home page, we obviously have a heady mix of news, Insight articles, best practice features and agony aunt columns (contact Christina at ChristinasCounsel@peoplediscovery.co.uk for confidential advice), we also have a range of other delights that are perhaps a tad more hidden away.

For example, there's our Any Answers section, which is available to everyone wanting to request some expert advice from their peers. We also take the most interesting of the legal queries and put them to our legal experts at Thomas Eggar, Mills & Reeve and Speechly Bircham, where they manifest as our 'Ask the Expert' pieces.

Then there's our Book Club, in which community members are invited to select, request (from me at cath.everett@siftmedia.co.uk) and review one of the listed books, which will, in turn, be published on the site in due course. We're also always keen to get our hands on any TV or film reviews that you think might be of interest to other readers so definitely let us know if you're up for getting involved.

And finally there are our lovely blogs. To post your own directly to the site, all you have to do is go to the blogs section, fill in the blogger description form and blog away. Easy-peasy. We take the best 1-2 each day, post them to the home page, tweet them out to the community and include them in one of our twice weekly newsletters (see button below to subscribe) so they get plenty of exposure.

So go for it, let your hair down, get involved. Sharing is good for everyone.....
