Objectives

The purpose of the Distributed Systems course is to provide students with an understanding of the main problems and techniques in the design and implementation of distributed systems. Consider it as course on "Distributed Algorithms and Data Structures"; the focus is on the principles, rather than on a particular technology. Concretely this includes the following objectives:
Students are expected to be confident in the use of a programming language (like C, C++, Java). Furthermore, students are expected to have completed courses on Networking, Algorithms and Data Structures, and Operating Systems.
