And so it begins; I’ve been preaching about the Jawbone UP for just three days, and already have two converts under my belt. I’m looking forward to the dashboard of stats from my “teammates” to keep me motivated to compete.

I totally impulse-bought the Jawbone UP on Friday. I had been very interested when it came out last fall, but the first version broke for everyone since it turned out not to be waterproof or sturdy enough, and Jawbone did a complete refund for everyone who bought one. No good.
With that track record, I am optimistic that they got it right this time with version 2. It’s basically a pedometer and sleep monitor that you wear all the time, and it syncs to an iOS app when you plug it into the headphone jack (they recommend doing this twice a day). With the default goal of 10,000 steps per day, I’m already feeling the incentive to get up and move more often. CR and I took a walk after dinner tonight, which I usually am not motivated to do. Another great perk is the option to set it to vibrate when you have been idle for too long; mine vibrates after an hour so I’m reminded to get up from my desk and take a short walk around the office.
So far, I love it. Now I’ve got to get to bed so I can get enough sleep tonight!

With Jawbone’s UP revamped and relaunched, I felt the bug to buy one until I saw the Misfit Shine. I probably don’t need any of it, but this one certainly is tempting.
