He’s created the costumes for a few Lifetime movies — not to mention TV shows including Castle and Veronica Mars and big screen features like Pitch Perfect — but Salvador Perez Jr. faced a unique challenge while working on Liz & Dick, airing this Sunday at 9p.m. EST.

“I was really put to the test to make the movie believable and iconic at the same time. And also, we’re talking Elizabeth Taylor and Lindsay Lohan, two woman who wear clothes very differently,” Perez explains. “I had to be inspired by Elizabeth Taylor, but flatter Lindsay Lohan.”

Perez was able to do both, once he discovered that his leading lady shared Taylor’s weakness for shiny objects.  READ FULL STORY »

For Simon Helberg, getting into character as Howard Wolowitz often involves squeezing into super-skinny jeans, and for that he has Big Bang Theory costume designer Mary T. Quigley to thank.

Quigley — who also offered us some insight into Sheldon’s T-shirt collection — explained the logic behind Wolowitz’s sartorial choices when she gave EW’s own Adam B. Vary a guided tour of the Big Bang wardrobe closet.

“He’s much more of a fashionista [than Sheldon and the other guys],” Quigley says. “Luckily, I have an actor who really believes in ‘in character’ and is willing to put the tight pants on, and feels comfortable doing it.”

So, what’s with Howard’s extensive collection of belt buckles? And where does Quigley dig them up? READ FULL STORY »
