We pick lenses for the Squidoo Home Page rotation based on 2 major criteria. 1) amazing intro photos and 2) great lens content.
Here are 4 quick tips that you can use to improve your chance for getting a home page feature.
1. Use well lit bright photos. Anything that’s dull, dark or dreary won’t make the cut.
2. Use large photos (not giant ones) that are 250 x 250 pixels. Square is key.
3. Crop! It might seem counterintuitive, but tightly cropping your photos (cutting part of them off) actually makes them look better. Just look at the intro photo for this post, it looks amazing. Also check out: www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgM5Bp1_ZKw for more tips on the art of cropping.
4. Get creative. Search through the Flickr Creative Commons for an interesting photo that fits the first 3 criteria on this list.
