SMALL POEMS| Spring

spacer

a spider's
gossamer calligraphy
on the face of the pond

who regrets
the passing of winter
the coming of spring?

rain
on the iron gate
one crow

a spider weaves its web
in the wind chimes

awakened
by freight train whistle
      the full moon

flat grey sky
calligraphy
of crows

I wake from a dream
of you -- the bed
still shaking

a tear in the fabric
just there
      -- your hand

wind chimes | chicadees | the tick-tick-tick
of snow melting | down the drainpipe

doves
in the dead
spruce

quiet Sunday morning
the empty
birdcage
