Here It Is: The Campaign for the Margiela x H&M Collaboration

The Maison Martin Margiela for H&M campaign has officially been shot, and High Snobette brings us the news that the first few images of it have surfaced in Japan China. (One of them is above, and you can see the rest here.) As expected, the collection appears to be composed mostly of black garments in all sorts of mish-mashy shapes: There's a pair of very wide leg trousers, a jacket with gigantic shoulder pads, and an asymmetrical dress that kind of looks like this.

On a wilder note, there's also a puffy calf-length jacket with an exaggerated collar that's iridescent pearl, rather than black, and similarly shiny leggings that may or may not be in some sort of animal print. For the rest, you'll just have to wait 'til November 15th, or until the next round of leaks—whichever comes first.

Flashbacks

spacer The cast of Clueless just did a cover shoot for Entertainment Weekly, and to make sure that didn't slip under the radar, former Miss USA Rachel Smith tagged along to interview them all on behalf of Good Morning America. Topics covered? How much Alica Silverstone despised her costume changes, what hat made Stacey Dash feel like Audrey Hepburn, and how Miss Geist would have eventually found her way into a career of writing erotic romance novels. Balenciaga's Nicolas Ghesquière Thinks That "Good Cut Should Come in Big Sizes Too"

spacer

While it's definitely no secret that high-end fashion houses tend to err on the side of skinny, Balenciaga's creative director Nicolas Ghesquière recently decided to address fashion's "size issue." The change in opinion comes fifteen years after joining the label, when the brand used girls in its studio, who were "were often quite petite," as fit models. Ghesquière explained his recently swayed opinion to The Sunday Times:

I had a tendency to think good cut and small size [was best suited], but a good cut should come in big sizes too. That's what I want to focus on—it's the cut, not the sizing, and if people see that they can wear something in a big size, then I did my job.

Pricing, like the $3,150 tag on this jacket, will presumably stay just as large.

Nine West Is Looking to Beef Up Its Image With Lots of Pumps

Nine West's reputation as a sensible footwear option is known throughout malls nationwide, but the company is currently in the midst of a revamp to "up its 'cool' factor," according to WWD. The brand recently opened a new concept store in New York City, and plans to roll out the same concept worldwide within its existing stores, rather than opening a slew of new units.

A key point in the makeover includes The World of Pumps, a dedicated party shoe, high-heel wall that can now be seen on Madison Avenue. WWD explains that "every store will take its cue from the revamped flagship," and that the new merchandising strategy will also hit the brand's website. Nine West's President and CEO Richard Dickson adds: "A huge percentage of our business is pumps, but now we're celebrating it with every color, heel size and material pump. It's not just a basic. It's a go-to."

Other shoes besides pumps will also get some spotlight>>

Lookbook of the Day

Wren's Fall Lookbook Was Inspired by Those Easygoing California Winters

For its fall 2012 collection and lookbook, Wren designer Melissa Coker took a break from being inspired by Lana Del Rey, and chose to focus on something a little bit more general: California winters. To that end, the collection includes winter florals, cropped wool pants, and silk dresses—outfits predominantly exist in lands where winter actually just means a crisp 45 degrees at night. Click through the gallery above to scope out the 18 looks, and be sure to pay attention the footwear: the brand's collaboration with Minnetonka is featured.
