અવંતિપતિ ભોજરાજની સભા ભરાઈ છે. દરબારીઓ પોતપોતાનાં આસનો શોભાવી રહ્યા છે એટલામાં ત્યાં બ્રાહ્મણ આવ્યો.
બ્રાહ્મણે આવી ભોજરાજાને હાથ ઊંચો કરી આશીર્વાદ આપ્યા. તે પછી તેણે આકાશ સામે આંગળી કરી જમીન પર હાથ ફેરવ્યો. ઉત્તરમાં ભોજરાજાએ મોંમાં આંગળી મૂકતાં બ્રાહ્મણે ભોજની સમક્ષ એક પથ્થર ધર્યો.
ભોજે હસીને બ્રાહ્મણને સવાલાખ રૂપિયાનું ઈનામ આપ્યું.

Origination of Valentine’s Day
In spite of what you have been told by everyone, the truth is that Valentine’s Day originated hundreds of years ago, in India, and to top it all, in Gujarat !!
It is a well known fact that Gujarati men, specially the Patels, continually mistreat and disrespect their wives (Patelianis). One fine day, it happened to be the 14th day of February, one brave Pateliani, having had enough “torture” by her husband, finally chose to rebel by beating him up with a Velan (rolling pin).
Yes….the same Velan which she used daily, to make chapattis for him….only this time, instead of the dough, it was the husband who was flattened.
This was a momentous occasion for all Gujarati women and a revolt soon spread, like wild fire, with thousands of housewives beating up their husbands with the Velan.
There was an outburst of moaning “chapatti-ed” husbands all over Anand and Amdavad. The Patel men-folk quickly learnt their lesson and started to behave more respectfully with their Patelianis.
Thereafter, on 14th February, every year, the womenfolk of Gujarat would beat up their husbands, to commemorate that eventful day.The wives having the satisfaction of beating up their husbands with the Velan and the men having the supreme joy of submitting to the will of the women they loved. Soon The Gujju men realised that in order to avoid this ordeal they need to present gifts to their wives….they brought flowers and sweetmeats. Hence the tradition began.
As Gujarat fell under the influence of Western culture, that day was called ‘Velan time’ day.
The ritual soon spread to Britain and many other Western countries, specifically, the catch words ‘Velan time!’. Of course in their foreign tongues, it was first anglisised to ‘Velantime’ and then to ‘Valentine’.
And thereafter, 14th of February, came to be known as Valentine’s Day!

Honda Civic 2006 Car Mileage
I have Honda Civic 2006. Its been a great car so far. It is stylish and very fuel economic. One time I had problem was the battery suddenly drained and failed to start a car. I visited Honda dealer and they fixed it without any out-of-pocket cost because battery comes with 5 years of warranty of replacement within car warranty. I am living in Houston and going to office in rush hours. In city, it is giving me mileage around 28-32 miles per gallon. Yesterday I went to Corpus Christi. For the whole time, I was on cruise control of 65 mph speed limit as I was driving in night time. It gave me a mileage of 44 miles per gallon. That’s awesome, isn’t it?

Blackberry Pearl BrickBreaker Game New Score
Yesterday, I was playing BrickBreaker on my Blackberry Pearl and got lucky enough to go upto Level 34 but I had only 1 life remaining and lost in that level. But I made a big score on that game. You know how much? It is 16,400. I know there must be so many guys who have higher scores or even completed the whole game but I am not a game savvy guy so this score seems a bit of joy for me.
Tips: To get to this score and level, I had a simple trick. If you get life in level 1, there is much better chance that you will get more life in subsequent levels. At one point I had 14 lives but lost in various levels. More lives will help you reach to higher and tough levels.
Things to know before you enroll into Emirates Skywards program
Today I came to know more about Emirates Skywards program for earning miles. Few months back, I had purchased Emirates ticket for my wife and I enrolled myself in Skywards. Due to my lazy nature, I did not bother to check its status. Today finally I “got time” and checked the status. It was showing me 0 miles in my account. I tried to claim miles online but Website showed that it cannot add miles. I called customer service and they explained me the rules.
- You can claim miles only for your ticket and not for others even if you have paid it by your credit card.
- If I enroll my wife today even then she cannot claim miles because for newly registered users, they can claim miles for travels within 2 months.
- If you want to get your family member’s miles under your account then each of your family member should be registered under their family reward program. Using it, you can claim miles for your family member’s flights.
Please don’t be lazy like me and check your mile status as quickly as possible after your journey.
