5-star Power Forward Chris McCullough is headed to Cuse Babbbbbyyyy. He tweeted the news on Monday after considering scholarship offers from St. Johns, Louisville, West Virginia, and UCLA, among others. The 610 power forward hails from the Bronx, but is currently attending Brewster Academy in New Hampshire.
McCullough is the 17th rated prospect in the class of 2014 according to ESPN. He possesses incredible athletic ability and a silky smooth jump shot that is sure to electrify crowds in the Carrier Dome. Long, athletic forwards are highly coveted by Jim Boeheim (see Wesley Johnson, Kris Joseph, Jerami Grant, etc), so it seems to be a perfect fit. After visiting the Syracuse campus, McCullough knew he was in the right place. On Monday, he said, When I was on their campus, I felt I was at home already. They showed me the most love. I felt like I fit in there.
He is the fourth commitment that Syracuse has received in the past three weeks. Class of 2013 prospects Ron Patterson (McCulloughs teammate at Brewster Academy), BJ Johnson, and Chinonso Obokoh have all recently pledged their allegiance to the Orange after making visits to campus.
With this addition, the recruiting outlook looks remarkably strong for Jim Boeheim and his staff. It has been reported that McCullough and fellow 2014 prospect Isaiah Whitehead have a vested interest in playing together at the collegiate level. Whitehead is a 4-star shooting guard that attends Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, NY- the same school that has produced the likes of NBA guards Stephon Marbury and Sebastian Telfair.
Whether or not the Orange add Whitehead is yet to be determined, but Syracuse fans should be delighted with McCulloughs commitment. He has legitimate superstar potential and is likely to make some serious noise when he arrives at SU in the fall of 2014.
