International Association for Computerized Adaptive Testing

The International Association for Computerized Adaptive Testing (IACAT) is a tax-exempt nonprofit professional and scientific organization intended to promote adaptive testing. (See our Mission Statement for more information.) The organization was formulated in 2009 and founded in 2010.

Membership

Currently membership is free and we invite anyone interested in adaptive testing to join. You only have to create a User account on this system  to be a member.  Members have access to the Forums, where issues in CAT research and applications can be discussed.   Members also can vote for members of the Board of Directors and hold office in IACAT.

Call for Papers: 2013 IACAT Conference Jiaxing, China

The 2013 conference will be held at Jiaxing University (www.zjxu.edu.cn/English/), China, conveniently located outside Shanghai.  The conference is scheduled for August 17-19 with pre-conference workshops to be August 15-16.

The preliminary conference program is at www.confchina.com/iacat.htm#program. Research papers and other program proposals are now being accepted. Please visit www.confchina.com/iacat.htm#paper for information on submitting papers and other proposals. More information on research proposals and online registration is available at www.confchina.com

Join us for this exciting exchange of adaptive testing research in the country that established the world's first standardized testing program - 2,000 years ago!  Also, the IACAT board recently voted that IACAT conferences will be held in odd-numbered years (opposite the ITC conference, which is even-numbered years), so the next conference will be 2015.

Journal of Computerized Adaptive Testing

Our new Journal, The Journal of Computerized Adaptive Testing (JCAT) is a peer-reviewed electronic journal designed to advance the science and practice of computerized adaptive testing (CAT) by publishing empirical research reports, theoretical papers, and integrative critical reviews of topics directly related to CAT (e.g., item selection algorithms, security algorithms, multistage designs, examinee reactions to CAT, DIF in CAT, item bank development, the psychometrics of CAT) and on important ancillary topics (e.g., innovative item types, assessment engineering, psychometric models, issues surrounding the technology of adaptive testing, or validity studies).

For further information about JCAT, see the link under Resources.

CAT Bibliography

Our CAT Bibliography (which you can find under Resources) has over 2,000 references and is growing, thanks to our Bibliography Manager, Vince Maurelli, and Zhen Li, Jerry Melican, and Shungwon Ro who each are monitoring several journals for new CAT literature .  We welcome your contributions to this important resource.  Please send your CAT references and papers to IACAT Bibliography.
