“Greener” Factories and Buildings
Just as we focus on fuel efficiency for our vehicles, we strive for energy efficiency in the manufacturing of our products and the operation of all our facilities.
Minimizing Waste
- A Honda vehicle manufactured in 2001 created 62.8 pounds of waste. In 2011, that number was reduced over 90% to just 1.8 pounds of waste for each automobile produced
- 10 of 14 Honda plants in North America are operating with absolutely zero waste sent to landfills
- The remaining four plants are producing an amount of landfill waste that accounts for less than one-half of one percent of all manufacturing-related waste in North America
Maximizing Energy Efficiency
Eleven of Honda’s facilities in North America have received LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, the most of any automaker.
