8:35pm: Presentation of the Hugo Award base by Dave Howell. It’s an asteroid. The plaque floats in front of the base, and the rocket is hovering slightly over the flat surface of the asteroid, over a translucent plexi base which gives the illusion that the rocket is just taking off from the asteroid. Embedded into the plexi is a blast-off pattern composed of overlaid maple leaves. It’s very beautiful and understated.

8:28pm: The winner of the Hugo Logo Contest is Jeremy Kratz. The logo is very nice: simple and sleek.

8:22pm: The first Fandom Hall of Fame Award goes to James Gunn.

8:19pm: Forrest J. Ackerman Big Heart Award goes to Andrew Porter.

We’re live at Anticipation, the 67th World Science Fiction Convention here in Montréal, Quebéc, Canada, at the Hugo Awards Ceremony. In addition to the Hugo Awards themselves, tonight is also the announcement of the winner of the Hugo Awards logo contest. The winner of which will win $500, a glass trophy featuring the winning design, a membership to an upcoming Worldcon, signed copies of Neil Gaiman’s Hugo Award-winning novel American Gods and novella Coraline and the collection Fragile Things, including the Hugo Award-winning short story “A Study in Emerald,” as well as having the Hugo Awards use his design in their official communications, of course.
