How to get to there by car

The tannery is approximately 18 miles (29 km) from the centre of Edinburgh. Livingston can be reached from Junction 3 of the M8.

After 600 metres, take the slip-road left onto Houstoun Road. This will be signposted Uphall Station and Pumpherston. You pass the New Houstoun Business Park (containing Screwfix and J&W Carpets) on the left.  Nettlehill Road is the next turning on the left, where the road widens (just after the bus stop). Proceed up Nettlehill Road for about 500 metres, passing DS Packaging on the right, turning left in the dog-leg continuation of Nettlehill Road. We are about 300 metres on the left.

Please note that there is also a Nettlehill Road in Uphall Station (which is on the outskirts of Livingston). If you are using a GPS satellite navigation system, then please ensure that you enter the full post code in to the device.

How to get to there by bus

From Edinburgh City Centre (Regent Road), take the 'First Co.' No. 22 bus to Livingston. Ask the bus driver to let you off at the Uphall Station stop in Livingston. Alight from the bus and cross the road towards the co-operative shop. 10 meters past the co-operative shop turn left towards the railway line. Walk 0.7 miles 1km) all the way up the dedicated footpath next to the rail line, past the Highlander factory on the right. Turn right  at T-junction.  J Hewit & Sons is across the road.
