New book description for The 13th Cycle, courtesy of the Book Doctor

December7

New and improved book description, thanks to some suggestions by MeiLin, a.k.a. the book doctor. For $25, she gave me feedback and ideas for how to make a more compelling book blurb. Here’s the new description:

Amara Randall is a college student with a passion for exposing the truth. When she sees the havoc the Maya calendar predictions wreak, she decides to debunk the myths and try to restore the peace.

Mahaway is a charismatic young scribe in ancient Maya. But her world is torn apart when a greedy new king declares war on her city.

Now at the end of 2012, Amara’s obsession leads her to uncovering a deadly conspiracy, one with roots dating back more than a thousand years. Using clues Mahaway has left behind as a guide, Amara must stop the conspirators’ terrifying plan before December 21. If she doesn’t, the world really will end.

Let me know what you think!

Save the Date – December 13

December1

I’m happy to announce that The 13th Cycle will be released on December 13! (Just in time for the end of the world on December 21).
The cover is almost finalized, the manuscript is going through one more round of revisions, and I’m making the ebook this weekend. If you’re interested, here’s a draft of the blurb/book description/backcover text. Would appreciate any feedback!

The world will not end in 2012, Amara just knows it. The 20-year-old college reporter is set on debunking the Maya calendar myths and restoring the peace. But when a covert group starts hunting her, she and her roommate Cayden are forced to uncover her grandfather’s mysterious past.

At 20-years old, Mahaway is the brightest scribe in Ox Te’ Tuun, a powerful ancient Maya city. Then in 900 A.D., her life is torn apart by a greedy new king’s war. She, her best friend Yochi, and a new friend Ichik must band together to fight back and save their home. In doing so, they expose a deadly weapon, one that threatens to ruin everything.

Though these two young women live in different ages, their paths’ cross when Amara is tasked with discovering and stopping a secret before December 21 to save herself, and the world.

Revisions and Bonus Chapters

November28

The 2012 ebook has a name! And it is….”The 13th Cycle.” I’ve updated all the posts on this site to show the most recent version of the story, and there are two additional chapters you can read here that you can’t find on Wattpad, Bookrix, or Book Country.

The ebook will be out soon (in the next week or two), and if you sign up for my newsletter here, I’ll let you know how you can get your copy! If you leave a review, then I’ll send you a bonus/alternate ending chapter!

spacer Hello! My name is Sabrina, and I like to write and experiment.

From now until December 11, be part of my agile self-publishing experiment by contributing to my Pubslush campaign! (Or at the very least, watch my fun dinosaur puppet video at pubslush.com/books/id/128).

I’ll also be posting chunks of my ebook regularly, in hopes that you, dear reader, will give me feedback as I go along. It’s called agile publishing, and I figured if a publishing house can do it, why not an indie author?

My story will revolve around the Mayan Calendar and 2012 (good time to do it, right?) I have a very rough outline that I will be developing and tweaking as I go (with your help, of course.)

So please, subscribe to my blog and help me shape the story as I write it. I want to write something that you will want to read. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Don’t like reading the story in blog form? The 2012 ebook is now on Wattpad, Bookrix, and Book Country!
