Welcome   We look forward to your joining us at our many and diverse services and programs.  The HIR is committed to providing a warm, welcoming and safe environment for anyone who wishes to join us.

If you have guests visiting for Shabbat or know of people moving to the community, please let us know here so we can welcome them during announcements on Shabbat.  We'd like to host new members of the community in our homes for Shabbat meals - if you're new to Riverdale or know someone who is, please contact hirwelcome@gmail.com to arrange for hospitality..

The Hebrew Institute of Riverdale – The Bayit – is an open Orthodox synagogue serving the entire Jewish community.  The Hebrew Institute warmly embraces all Jews, regardless of affiliation, commitment, or background. It is affectionately known as the "Bayit," which is a home; a place of love and welcome. The HIR is known nationally for bringing spirituality into the synagogue, for activism, youth and teen engagement, learning programs, and work on behalf of the elderly, the homebound, and those developmentally and physically challenged.
