About the OU > Faculties and Centres
The academic life of the University is focused on our faculties, where courses are planned and developed, informed by world-class research.
Students in the UK are supported through a network of 13 centres where they can meet with tutors, advisors and each other. These are complemented by study centres, often in other higher education institutions, that may be used for study, tutorials and examinations.
Outside the UK the OU operates in several ways: teaching courses directly, through partnerships with local education and training specialists, or by validating other providers' programmes. In Africa our partnerships are not only about teaching but sharing our methods and expertise in order to help build capacity.
The OU’s headquarters is in Milton Keynes, where our faculties are based along with our administrative departments.
The OU library is a gateway to an extensive collection of online information resources to support learning, teaching and research and offers a programme of live online training sessions to develop skills in finding, using and managing information.
