The IEEE International Conference on Web Services
(ICWS) has been a prime international forum for both researchers and
industry practitioners to exchange the latest fundamental advances in
the state of the art and practice of Web services, identify emerging
research topics, and define the future of Web-based services. ICWS 2010
is
sponsored by IEEE Computer Society. It is the eighth year of gathering
to formally explore "Services" Science and Technology in the field of
Services Computing, which was
formally promoted by IEEE Computer Society since 2003.
ICWS 2010 will be
co-located with the 6th IEEE 2010 World Congress on Services (SERVICES
2010), the 3rd IEEE 2010 International Conference on Cloud
Computing
(CLOUD
2010), and the 7th IEEE 2010 International Conference on
Services
Computing (SCC 2010) to grow itself to
continute to be the most
prestigious professional conference dedicated to Web services.
From technology
foundation perspective, Services
Computing has become the default discipline in the modern services
industry. As a major implementation technology for modernizing
services industry, Web services are Internet-based application
components published using standard interface description languages and
universally available via uniform communication protocols. In the
eighth year, the program of ICWS 2010 will continue to feature
research papers with a wide range of topics, focusing on various
aspects of IT services. Some of the topics include Web services
specifications and enhancements, Web services discovery and
integration, Web services QoS (e.g., security, performance,
reliability, fault tolerance, etc.), Web services standards and
formalizations, Web services modeling, Web services engineering, Web
services testing, Web services-based applications and solutions, Web
services realizations, semantics in Web services, Web services
supporting Cloud Computing, Web services lifecycle management, mobile
Web services, and all aspects of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA)
infrastructure and middleware.
As the most
prestigious academic conference in the
field of Web services, the first International Conference on Web
Services (ICWS 2003) was held at Monte Carlo Resort in Las Vegas,
Nevada, June 23-26, 2003, attracting hundreds of participants from 25
countries. ICWS 2004 was held at Westin Horton Plaza in San Diego,
California, July 6-9, 2004. ICWS 2004 attracted about 250 registered
participants from 22 countries and regions. The joint ICWS 2005 and SCC
2005 attracted more than 300 registered participants in Orlando,
Florida, USA. Again the joint ICWS 2006 and SCC 2006 attracted more
than 300 registered participants in Chicago, Illinois, USA. The joint
ICWS 2007 and SCC 2007 attracted more than 400 registered participants
in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. ICWS 2008 was held in Beijing, China,
September 23-26, attracting more than 200 registered participants. ICWS
2009
co-locates with IEEE
2009 Congress on Services (SERVICES 2009-I) to celerate the
successful launch of the First
International Conference on Cloud Computing (CLOUD 2009) in
July 2009 in Los Angeles, California, USA. ICWS
2003 - 2009 have proven to be excellent catalysts for research and
collaboration, and we fully expect that this coming ICWS 2010
conference will continue this trend.
2009
ICWS Research Track Acceptance Rate: 15.6%
2008 ICWS Research Track Acceptance Rate: 16%
2007 ICWS Research Track Acceptance Rate: 18%
2006 ICWS Research Track Acceptance Rate: 16%
2005 ICWS Research Track Acceptance Rate: 18.9%
2004 ICWS Research Track Acceptance Rate: 28.7%
2003 ICWS Research Track Acceptance Rate: 29.8%
The long-term goal of ICWS is to build up a
reputable and respectable conference for the international community.
It is very clear that the ICWS belongs to everyone.
As shown in the following landscape of
the IEEE
SERVICES conferences, the business service sectors (vertical industries
and cross-industries) are illustrated in the
dotted area (in orange)
as the major
focus of SERVICES 2010. They are application-specific areas
that apply services computing disciplined approach.
As shown in the blue-outlined area, the
International Conference on Services Computing (SCC) covers
the whole lifecycle of innovation research and enabling technologies,
which includes enterprise modeling, business consulting, solution
creation, services delivery, services orchestrtaion, services
optimization, services management, services marketing, services
delivery and cloud computing, service-oriented architecture (SOA),
business process integration and management, and Web services
technologies and standards.
The following two theme conferences continue to explore the deep knowledge space.
- The
2010 IEEE Third International Conference on Cloud Computing (CLOUD
2010) is
the theme topic
conference for services delivery and cloud in the
landscape of Services Computing.
- The
2010 IEEE Eighth International Conference on Web Services (ICWS 2010)
is the theme topic
conference for Web-based services, Web services
technologies and standards in teh landscape of Services
Computing.
About IEEE
IEEE
is the world’s largest professional association advancing innovation
and technological excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE and its
members inspire a global community to innovate for a better tomorrow
through its highly cited publications, conferences, technology
standards, and professional and educational activities. IEEE is the
trusted “voice” for engineering, computing and technology information
around the globe.
About IEEE Computer Society
With
nearly 85,000 members, the IEEE Computer Society (CS) is the world’s leading
organization of computing professionals. Founded in 1946, and the
largest of the 38 societies of the Institute of Electrical and
Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the CS is dedicated to advancing the
theory and application of computer and information-processing
technology.
About the Technical Committee on Services Computing
IEEE Computer Society's Technical Committee on Services Computing (TCSVC) is
a multi-disciplinary group whose purpose is to advance and coordinate
work in the field of Services Computing carried out throughout the IEEE
in scientific, engineering, standard, literary and educational areas.
Services
Computing has become a cross-discipline that covers the science and
technology of bridging the gap between Business Services and IT
Services. The underneath breaking technology suite includes Web
services and service-oriented architecture (SOA), cloud computing,
business consulting methodology and utilities, business process
modeling, transformation and integration. This scope of Services
Computing covers the whole lifecycle of services innovation research
that includes business compoentization, services modeling, services
creation, services realization, services annotation, services
deployment, services discovery, services composition, services
delivery, service-to-service collaboration, services montoring,
services optimization, as well as services management. The goal of
Services Computing is to enable IT services and computing technology to
perform business services more efficiently and effectively.
