2. Adding trips

  1. Can I add one-way trips?

This is not possible at this moment, but we've already designed the feature and it will be available in the future.

  2. I often travel with my spouse/colleague/etc. Any shortcuts for entering our matching data?

At the moment you can copy any trip you see, so you don't have to re-enter details if you're making the same trip as someone else. We're considering ways to indicate that there is a special relationship between your trip and theirs, or a way to send a simple 'add this trip' link to people who will be travelling with you. We'll be enhancing this capability in the future.

  3. If my trip is starting, say April 1st, 21:00, should I enter the start date as 2008-04-01 or 2008-04-02, because most of the day, I'm still in my home town? Is there such a guideline?

Since Dopplr is all about serendipity, many people start the trip in Dopplr on the first full day at the destination, unless they have an early enough flight arrival. It's entirely up to you, of course.

  4. Sometimes, when travelling, I'm in two cities the same day. How can I indicate this?

The best way at the moment is to create two trips with the same date. However, this will not necessarily keep the order of the visited cities right, and we're sorry for that. We will work on this feature in the near future.

  5. How can I add additional trip information, such as flight number; departure and arrival times; hotels, etc?

We're going to make it possible to add more structured information about your trip. Stay tuned.

In the meantime, you can add the information in the Notes area for each trip, if this is a note you like to share with your fellows. If this is a private note, which only you can see, you can add the information on the trip page to the private description field, on the top right to the map. You can also forward confirmation emails from hotels and such, to Dopplr, and we'll associate them to a trip with the same dates.

  6. Does the email importer understand multi-stop trips?

Unfortunately, not at this time. We're working on that. Please let us know  if you encounter any other problems with the email importer.

  7. Can I input multiple destinations in one trip form when I'm making several stops before heading home?

Yes, you can. Just click the link that says "Add another stop on this trip" under the date in the add-trip form. Unfortunately this feature doesn't work on browser versions of IE6 or older.

  8. Can I add trips by email, or SMS, or Twitter?

Yes you can! You can add trips to Dopplr via email, via SMS, via Twitter, or from your online calendar.

You can subscribe to your online Google calendar and it will add trips to Dopplr automatically. You can also add trips to your Apple iCal calendar and have the show up on Dopplr. We hope to add Microsoft Outlook to this list in the relatively near future.

  9. How do I add trips from my Dopplr page?

Click  "+Add a Trip" (upper right on your home page). Then fill out the form and you're off! You can also search for a city and add a trip from there, just click on the little ' +' sign.
