Well, shiver me timbers… Talk Like a Pirate Day be ‘ere again!
As is me custom, ‘ere is a bit o’ nautical witticism to get ye’ in the spirit o’ things. Some o’ ye might be sayin’, “but Cap’n Alina, ye posted this video last year”. Ye keen-eyeds dog wit’ more sense that that know that while I did link to “The Last Saskatchewan Pirate” last year, THIS be a different version, by a different band.
This may not be me favorite version of the song, (none sing it better than The Arrogant Worms, and I’ll keelhaul anyone who says otherwise!) but it be sung by a fellow Cap’n, so we’ve got ta give ‘em their due. I give you, Cap’n Tractor:
Anyone else thinking this is a funny coincidence that the german pirate party won her first election one day before talk like a pirate day?
Just info to share it with the world: If you want another pirate band to listen to on this fine sea-farin day, there is a band from Scotland called Alestorm. Upbeat pirate metal with a giant focus on RUM (as it should be)
Here’s their site with a couple mp3s:
www.alestorm.net/p/music.html Enjoy, me hearties!!!
Yaaaar!
Let us plunder ‘n sack! ^^
Yarrr! Sure an’ they be no Arrogant Worms, yet they do a fine job! Three cheers and a Huzzah for Cap’n Alina! May your timbers always shiver!
Yaharr, great fun, but I don’t see Marrrrrkkkkk anywhere….
I just linked to this one on Facebook. Even my less-geeky friends will appreciate this.
Where are Sarah and Mark? (If we can’t find them, then either one of them could be The Dread Pirate Roberts.)
The Last Saskatchenwan Pirate! I heard an mp3 of this back in the early 90s and it was one of my favorite songs and had no idea who it was from or what it was about! I did learn at one point it was Captain Tractor but wow, I totally didn’t know there was a music video! This totally made my day.
I find the use of fencing foils mildly hilarious, but otherwise, excellent!
I recommend playing the game “Find the Ninja” in today’s comic and in the video. Trust me, they are there.
Arrr…it’s Cap’n Katie once more. And some of the others too. I like the eyepatch on Joel. Gives him a ‘Xander Harris’ look.
“If you want to reach the co-op, boy, you gotta get by me…”
That line cracks me up every time.
Check out “The Lincoln Park Pirates”. I’ve heard it performed by Clam Chowder. Hilarious!
I enjoy that little shout to The Princess Bride way more than I should. X3
Wow – this made my day . . Captain Tractor did a stint as resident band at the bar I used to go to in the 90′s – In Wellington, New Zealand. Didn’t know there was a video, great albums.
I had no internet yesterday but if you want some great pirate music year round check out bilge monkey radio.
There’s a pirate band called the Jolly Rogers that always plays at the Kansas City Renaissance Festival that I’ve heard is pretty good.
Awww, how sweet!
Why is that cat barking, though?
You jumped months real fast there. From Sep 19 to Oct 31? Are we doing the Time Warp again?
Another year, another talk like a pirate day I miss because I forget and then no one reminds me until late in the day. Next year, I’m making a note on every day for a week before September 15 so I don’t forget. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to yell and scream in rage at both the fact that this is another late reminder of what I’ve missed (again) and because my computer has been giving me no end of grief for the last two and a half hours.
And to those naming pirate themed bands, look up Alestorm. You will (probably) not be sorry.
Hmm to be fair, she probably wouldn’t remember Han Solo’s name at all My boyfriend and I get into the same kind of conversations, but then I don’t remember anything close to the name of the character. I just describe him and go “that guy” XD
I’ve got to say though, Cap’n Tractor had a video with a bunch of kids in it and none of them were annoying. Pretty rare these days.
And it looks like Mark is going to geek out on his date. Noooooooo… He’s got to kepp his non-ggek girlfriend. With the male-to-female geek ratio what it is the only hope some of us have of getting a date is if non-geek girls aren’t scared off.
Arr! Avast! I been out a galavantin’ about so I din make it back ti ye Weregeek shores till today. This be a mighty funny vid. Especially gots ta grant ye kudos since it be mentioning New Mexico. That be shiverin me timbers.
Avast ye scurvy dogs. I’fn ye arr a wondering where I bee the last fortnight, t’was all ta blame on those bilge rats from the Alliance. Sela’ma ashal’anore!
Ahoy! I be fixin’ gun carriages with me crew this weekend, then we be stormin’ the taverns in town round sundown!
