About me

I’ve been a web designer and developer since 1996, starting with a website for Ramsey Library, University of North Carolina at Asheville, where I was a public services librarian responsible for the federal and state depository documents collections from 1988 to 2000, and established the library web site. In late-May, 2000, I moved to Reno, Nevada, where I served as Web Development Librarian until the end of June 2008.

My final projects at UNR were a “construction” site for a beautiful new building to house both the main University Library and IT User Services, and a website for the completed Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center. It was a wonderful place to work with Enterprise Microsoft software and learn new skills. I had the privilege of working on a lot of websites with many talented contributors. When I “retired,” I spent several months working remotely part-time writing documentation and working with my successor. After some time away from the computer, I rediscovered the pleasures of working on my own projects, learned more about WordPress and open source tools, and I found myself happily engaged in web work again.

Everything I’ve done in the past is a big help going forward and I still can’t wait to get to work in the morning, even if it’s just across the hall.
