13 of the books of the New Testament are the epistles (letters) of St. Paul. Seven were probably written by Paul himself and six others have been written in his name by (anonymous) followers, some up to 80 years after his death. By the time the official Bible canon was produced, no-one knew that only some were genuine. The historical Paul probably did write 1 Thessalonians, Galatians, 1 and 2 Corinthians, Philippians, Philemon and Romans. Letters forged in the name of Paul are 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus, Ephesians, Colossians and 2 Thessalonians. Paul was born in Tarsus as "Saul" and adopted the name of Paul after converting to what is now Christianity. He was an early leader of the growing Christian churches around the Roman Empire, and the writings of St. Paul are the earliest existing Christian writings known to historians. Despite this, Paul never met Jesus and appears to rely mostly on Greek myths and legends, many of which he copied, placing Jesus at the center of them instead of their original heroes.

Titus 1:1-16

KJVYLTNotes
1Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of the choice ones of God, and an acknowledging of truth that `is' according to piety,

Titus 1:2 is mentioned on Is God All-Powerful? Can God or Anything Truly Be Omnipotent?: 3. Is God All-Powerful According to the Christian Bible and Qur'an?

2In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;upon hope of life age-during, which God, who doth not lie, did promise before times of ages,
3But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;(and He manifested in proper times His word,) in preaching, which I was entrusted with, according to a charge of God our Saviour,
4To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.to Titus -- true child according to a common faith: Grace, kindness, peace, from God the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour!
5For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:For this cause left I thee in Crete, that the things lacking thou mayest arrange, and mayest set down in every city elders, as I did appoint to thee;
6If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.if any one is blameless, of one wife a husband, having children stedfast, not under accusation of riotous living or insubordinate --
7For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;for it behoveth the overseer to be blameless, as God's steward, not self-pleased, nor irascible, not given to wine, not a striker, not given to filthy lucre;
8But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;but a lover of strangers, a lover of good men, sober-minded, righteous, kind, self-controlled,
9Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.holding -- according to the teaching -- to the stedfast word, that he may be able also to exhort in the sound teaching, and the gainsayers to convict;
10For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:for there are many both insubordinate, vain-talkers, and mind-deceivers -- especially they of the circumcision --
11Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.whose mouth it behoveth to stop, who whole households do overturn, teaching what things it behoveth not, for filthy lucre's sake.
12One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.A certain one of them, a prophet of their own, said -- `Cretans! always liars, evil beasts, lazy bellies!'
13This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;this testimony is true; for which cause convict them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith,
14Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.not giving heed to Jewish fables and commands of men, turning themselves away from the truth;
15Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.all things, indeed, `are' pure to the pure, and to the defiled and unstedfast `is' nothing pure, but of them defiled `are' even the mind and the conscience;
16They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.God they profess to know, and in the works they deny `Him', being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work disapproved.

Titus 2:1-15

2That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.aged men to be temperate, grave, sober, sound in the faith, in the love, in the endurance;
3The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;aged women, in like manner, in deportment as doth become sacred persons, not false accusers, to much wine not enslaved, of good things teachers,
4That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,that they may make the young women sober-minded, to be lovers of `their' husbands, lovers of `their' children,
5To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.sober, pure, keepers of `their own' houses, good, subject to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be evil spoken of.
6Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.The younger men, in like manner, be exhorting to be sober-minded;
7In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,concerning all things thyself showing a pattern of good works; in the teaching uncorruptedness, gravity, incorruptibility,
8Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.discourse sound, irreprehensible, that he who is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say concerning you.
9Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;Servants -- to their own masters `are' to be subject, in all things to be well-pleasing, not gainsaying,
10Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.not purloining, but showing all good stedfastness, that the teaching of God our Saviour they may adorn in all things.
11For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,For the saving grace of God was manifested to all men,
12Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;teaching us, that denying the impiety and the worldly desires, soberly and righteously and piously we may live in the present age,
13Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;waiting for the blessed hope and manifestation of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ,
14Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.who did give himself for us, that he might ransom us from all lawlessness, and might purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works;
15These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.these things be speaking, and exhorting, and convicting, with all charge; let no one despise thee!

Titus 3:1-15

2To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.of no one to speak evil, not to be quarrelsome -- gentle, showing all meekness to all men,
3For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.for we were once -- also we -- thoughtless, disobedient, led astray, serving desires and pleasures manifold, in malice and envy living, odious -- hating one another;
4But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,and when the kindness and the love to men of God our Saviour did appear
5Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;(not by works that `are' in righteousness that we did but according to His kindness,) He did save us, through a bathing of regeneration, and a renewing of the Holy Spirit,
6Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;which He poured upon us richly, through Jesus Christ our Saviour,
7That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.that having been declared righteous by His grace, heirs we may become according to the hope of life age-during.
8This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.Stedfast `is' the word; and concerning these things I counsel thee to affirm fully, that they may be thoughtful, to be leading in good works -- who have believed God; these are the good and profitable things to men,
9But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.and foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about law, stand away from -- for they are unprofitable and vain.
10A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;A sectarian man, after a first and second admonition be rejecting,
11Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.having known that he hath been subverted who `is' such, and doth sin, being self-condemned.
12When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter.When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis, for there to winter I have determined.
13Bring Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey diligently, that nothing be wanting unto them.Zenas the lawyer and Apollos bring diligently on their way, that nothing to them may be lacking,
14And let our's also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.and let them learn -- ours also -- to be leading in good works to the necessary uses, that they may not be unfruitful.
15All that are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.Salute thee do all those with me; salute those loving us in faith; the grace `is' with you all!
